I made this tutorial to show how to change your WordPress site’s PHP version — something that’s often needed for speed, compatibility, or security. Here’s the video:

Most WordPress hosts let you change the PHP version right from your hosting dashboard. In the video, I walk through this process using a typical control panel like cPanel or Cloudways.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Log into your hosting provider
  2. Find the PHP settings or Server Settings area
  3. Select the PHP version you want to use (like 8.0 or 8.2)
  4. Click Save or Apply

I also explain what PHP is (basically the scripting language that powers WordPress) and why updating it helps improve performance and keeps your site secure.

One tip: always check your theme and plugins first — some older tools may not work with the latest PHP versions. I cover how to use a staging site to test updates before going live.

Have you updated your PHP version recently? If not, it’s probably time.
