I made this video to walk you through how to change your YouTube channel name — either to reflect a rebrand or just to try something new. Watch the tutorial here:

Your channel name shows up everywhere — on your videos, comments, search results, and more. Luckily, YouTube makes it simple to change, and it doesn’t affect your videos or stats.

In the video, I guide you through:

  1. Opening YouTube Studio
  2. Clicking Customization > Basic info
  3. Editing your Channel name and Handle
  4. Saving changes — which usually take effect within minutes

I also explain how this works differently if your channel is connected to a Google account or Brand account. If you’re using a Brand account, changes here won’t affect your Gmail name.

This is something I’ve done myself when pivoting the direction of a channel. A good name can make a huge difference in first impressions and click-through rate.

Have you ever changed your channel name — or are you still using the first one you thought of?
