I created this video to show you how to quickly update the email address connected to your Spotify account, whether you’re using the free version or Spotify Premium.

Changing your email on Spotify is something a lot of people overlook — until they lose access to their old inbox, want to switch to a business email, or just want to keep their accounts more organized. Luckily, Spotify makes the process simple, but you have to do it in the right place (and no, it’s not directly in the app).

Here’s a step-by-step guide to make sure your account stays up to date and secure.

Step 1: Log into Spotify from a web browser

To change your email, you’ll need to use the Spotify website — not the mobile app or desktop player.

Go to: https://www.spotify.com/account

Log in with your current Spotify credentials (either via email/password or social login like Facebook, Google, or Apple, depending on how you signed up).

Once logged in, you’ll land on your Account Overview page.

Step 2: Go to the “Edit Profile” section

From the left-hand sidebar (or scroll down on mobile), click “Edit Profile.”

Here, you’ll see the main details connected to your account:

  • Display name

  • Date of birth

  • Country

  • Email address

Update the email field to your new preferred email address.

Step 3: Save changes

After entering your new email, scroll down and click “Save Profile.”

Spotify may ask you to re-enter your password for verification — this is a security step to prevent unauthorized changes.

If your account is linked to Facebook or Apple, you’ll see a message telling you that email updates must be made through that service instead. In that case:

  • For Facebook, change your email on your Facebook account

  • For Apple, go to your Apple ID settings

Once changed on those platforms, Spotify will automatically sync the new email.

Step 4: Confirm your new email (if prompted)

Spotify may send a confirmation email to the new address. Make sure to check your inbox (and spam folder) and click the confirmation link if it’s required.

If you don’t receive a confirmation email and the change appears to go through successfully, your new email is already active — no further steps needed.

Why you should keep your Spotify email updated

  • To receive important billing or subscription updates

  • To reset your password easily if needed

  • To stay in the loop on new features, offers, or account alerts

  • To separate your Spotify usage from an outdated or unused inbox

In the video, I show how I updated my own email and what to expect in real-time, so you can follow along without missing a step.

Final tip: Consider updating your password too

If you’re updating your email, it’s also a good opportunity to review your account security. Go to spotify.com/account/change-password to create a stronger password or unlink any services you no longer use.
