I filmed this video to help anyone start their own subreddit — whether for a community, brand, niche interest, or personal project:

Creating a subreddit gives you full control over your own space on Reddit. You can set the rules, design the look, and build a focused audience around a topic that matters to you.

In the video, I show step-by-step how to:

  1. Go to reddit.com/subreddits/create (you need a Reddit account that’s at least 30 days old with some karma).
  2. Choose a unique name for your subreddit.
  3. Fill out the title, description, and sidebar details.
  4. Select community type (public, restricted, or private).
  5. Customize the appearance and moderation settings.

I also talk through common pitfalls — like choosing a name that’s too long, or setting the wrong permissions from the start. Planning your subreddit structure ahead of time makes a big difference.

I’ve created a few niche subreddits myself and found it a great way to build a tight-knit group around specific interests. Whether it’s for film lovers, productivity fans, or a product support hub — having your own subreddit opens a lot of doors.

Would you ever consider starting a subreddit? What niche would it cover?
