I created a straightforward tutorial on my channel showing how to use Bitly to shorten long URLs. Here’s the video:

Bitly is one of those tools that seems basic at first glance but becomes essential the more you use it. Whether you’re posting links on social media, emailing them to clients, or just trying to make something more readable, Bitly is an easy win.

In the video, I walk you through the entire process — from creating a free account to shortening your first link and even customizing it.

Once you’re signed in at bitly.com, just paste your long URL into the box and click “Shorten.” That’s it — Bitly gives you a short, clean link that’s perfect for sharing anywhere.

But there’s more to it. You can track how many people click your link, see where those clicks are coming from, and even organize your links into campaigns. If you’re a business owner or content creator, this kind of data is gold.

Bitly also allows you to customize the back-half of your link, so instead of something random like bit.ly/3xYpQa1, you can create bit.ly/mycourselaunch or whatever suits your brand. This improves trust and makes your link more memorable.

In the video, I also show how to edit links and find your previous URLs in the dashboard. This is helpful if you need to reuse or update links over time.

One tip I share is to save your custom Bitly links to a spreadsheet so you always have them handy. It makes your sharing workflow faster, especially if you’re regularly posting content to platforms like X, LinkedIn, or Pinterest.

I’ve used Bitly for everything from affiliate links to YouTube videos, and it’s saved me countless hours — not to mention kept my content looking clean and professional.

Have you tried Bitly before? Or are you still dropping raw URLs into your content?
