I created this video to walk through how to use Local (by Flywheel) — my favorite tool for setting up WordPress dev sites locally without any server configuration headaches.

Local lets you spin up staging environments in seconds, clone live sites, and test plugins, themes, or code without breaking your live setup.

In the video, I show:

  1. Downloading and installing Local
  2. Creating a new WordPress site in just a few clicks
  3. Changing PHP versions, web server types, and SSL
  4. Using Adminer or TablePlus to manage databases
  5. Exporting and pushing changes to live hosts if needed

This is essential if you build for clients or like to test workflows before going live. Plus, it’s free and works great on Mac or Windows.

Are you developing locally yet, or still making changes on the live site?
