I put together this video to walk you through how to create a custom preset in Apple Compressor, which saves time when you’re exporting videos regularly.

If you use Final Cut Pro X, Compressor is a fantastic way to control file size, export quality, and format — and presets let you apply your ideal settings in one click.
In the tutorial, I show:
- Opening Compressor
- Selecting New Setting > Video Format
- Choosing the base format (like H.264, HEVC, ProRes, etc.)
- Adjusting resolution, bitrate, audio settings, and file destination
- Naming your preset and saving it for future use
I also show how to assign that preset in Final Cut or batch-process multiple files using the droplet feature.
This is part of my core workflow now — I have different presets for YouTube, Kajabi courses, Instagram Reels, and archival.
Do you export manually every time or rely on presets to speed things up?
