How To Add a Bookmark In Google Chrome – Quick and Easy Guide

I created this video to show how to add bookmarks in Google Chrome, a feature I use every day to organize tools, content, and links for my various projects.

It’s such a simple habit, but it genuinely makes a huge difference in daily workflow. Rather than searching or retyping URLs constantly, you can save everything with a click — and structure it for super fast access later.

Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Open the page you want to bookmark

Visit the page in Chrome — whether it’s your Kajabi dashboard, a YouTube playlist, an SEO tool, or even a Google Doc.

You’ll see a star icon in the address bar on the right-hand side. Click it, and Chrome will instantly save the page as a bookmark.

Step 2: Choose a name and folder

Once you click the star, you’ll get a small popup where you can:

  • Rename the bookmark
  • Choose which folder to save it to

I always recommend renaming bookmarks to something clear and short, like:

  • “Stripe Dashboard”
  • “SEO – Ahrefs Keywords”
  • “YouTube Editor”
  • “Kajabi Email Templates”

Then, use folders like:

  • Tools
  • Client Projects
  • Templates
  • Swipe Files

Step 3: Use the bookmarks bar

Enable the bookmarks bar by pressing Ctrl+Shift+B (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+B (Mac). This gives you one-click access to your most-used folders and links, right beneath the address bar.

In the video, I show how my own bar is laid out for speed — and how I use emojis to label folders for quick scanning.

Step 4: Organize and clean up regularly

Over time, bookmarks can pile up. Right-click on the bar or go to chrome://bookmarks to edit, move, or delete old ones. I do a monthly clean-up to stay focused.

Bonus tip: You can also export and import bookmarks between browsers or devices via the Bookmarks Manager.

Are you using Chrome bookmarks intentionally, or are your best links buried in your browser history?
