I created this video to show how to set up Uptime Robot in just a few minutes — so you’ll always know when your site goes down, even before your users do.
If you’re running a business, blog, or portfolio site, uptime matters. Downtime can mean lost sales, lost rankings, and a bad impression. Uptime Robot is a free tool that monitors your site and sends alerts if anything breaks.
Here’s how to set it up.
Step 1: Create a free Uptime Robot account
Head to uptimerobot.com and create a free account. You’ll get:
-
50 monitors
-
5-minute check intervals
-
Email alerts (SMS and push on premium)
For most use cases, the free plan is more than enough.
Step 2: Add a new monitor
Click “Add New Monitor”, and choose:
-
Monitor type: HTTP(s) (for websites)
-
Friendly name: e.g. “My Main Site”
-
URL: full address, like
https://yourdomain.com
-
Alert contacts: your email or push contact
You can also monitor multiple pages or subdomains (like checkout.yoursite.com
).
In the video, I show how I added separate monitors for:
-
My homepage
-
Kajabi sales page
-
Stripe checkout
-
Filmmaking blog
Step 3: Enable notifications
Uptime Robot will send:
-
Email alerts
-
Push notifications (via mobile app)
-
Webhook alerts (for Slack or Discord)
I personally use the mobile app and email combo so I’m always notified ASAP if something goes wrong.
Bonus: It also tracks response time and uptime history, so you can see if your host is underperforming.
Are you monitoring your site’s uptime actively — or assuming it’ll stay live 24/7?
