I created a video that shows how to quickly enable or disable the NSFW (Not Safe For Work) content filter on Reddit. You can watch it here:
Reddit allows users to control whether they want to view NSFW content or keep it hidden. This is useful whether you’re browsing in a professional setting, sharing your device with others, or simply prefer to filter explicit content out.
In the video, I guide you through the settings on both desktop and mobile. On desktop, go to User Settings, click the Feed Settings tab, and look for the option that says “Show NSFW content (I’m over 18)”. You can toggle it on or off.
On mobile, the process is similar. Head to Settings, scroll down to View Options, and toggle the NSFW filter there.
You also have the option to blur NSFW thumbnails rather than blocking the content entirely. That’s useful if you still want access but prefer a bit of discretion when scrolling through your feed.
One important note I cover in the video: you must be logged in to access these settings. Reddit doesn’t allow anonymous NSFW browsing, even if you’re over 18.
Whether you’re adjusting for privacy, safety, or personal comfort, it’s good to know Reddit gives users direct control over what they see. I’ve adjusted these settings myself when browsing around others or working in shared environments.
How do you prefer to browse Reddit — fully open, blurred, or totally clean?
