I created this video to walk you through how to manage, enable, disable, and remove extensions in Google Chrome — because if you’re like me, you’ve probably installed more than you need.
Extensions can seriously upgrade your browser workflow — but too many active ones can slow you down, create clutter, and even pose security risks. This guide helps you clean things up and stay organized.
In the video, I cover:
- Accessing your extensions
Click the puzzle icon in Chrome’s top-right corner, then hit “Manage Extensions.” From there, you’ll see a full list of installed add-ons. - Disabling vs. removing
I show how to toggle extensions on/off without uninstalling them — great if you just want to declutter temporarily. Removing is simple too, and I recommend doing a regular audit. - Pinning to your toolbar
You can click the puzzle icon and then the pin symbol to make certain extensions visible on the toolbar for quick access — I keep my password manager and Grammarly pinned at all times. - Installing new extensions safely
I show how to browse the Chrome Web Store, check ratings, review permissions, and avoid shady extensions that might track your activity. - Using profiles to isolate tools
If you use Chrome for different roles (client work, personal browsing, testing), you can create separate profiles and install different extensions in each. This keeps your workspace focused.
I also talk about which extensions I use regularly — from SEO tools like Keywords Everywhere to productivity add-ons like Loom, ColorPick, and Momentum.
Have you ever audited your extension list? Or are there tools running in the background you forgot were even installed?
