I created this video to show how to speed up audio or video playback in VLC, which is perfect for reviewing long recordings, tutorials, or podcasts faster.

VLC gives you total control over playback speed — great for creators reviewing content or students trying to study more efficiently.

In the video, I show:

  1. Opening your media file in VLC Player
  2. Going to Playback > Speed or using the hotkeys (] to speed up, [ to slow down)
  3. Setting a custom speed from 0.25x to 4x
  4. Locking the pitch so voices don’t sound distorted
  5. Using it for audio-only formats or screen recordings

This is a simple trick that’s saved me hours when reviewing long-form content or screen recordings from clients.

Do you ever speed up playback when reviewing content?
