I created this video to help you analyze your site’s performance using Google PageSpeed Insights, which is a free tool that gives actionable tips to speed up your site and improve SEO.
PageSpeed Insights breaks down your website’s loading speed and shows you exactly what’s slowing it down — both on mobile and desktop. I use it regularly to check client sites, new sales pages, and niche projects.
In the video, I show you how to:
- Visit pagespeed.web.dev
- Enter your site or page URL and run the test
- Read the Performance Score, which is color-coded (red = slow, green = good)
- Check Core Web Vitals like Largest Contentful Paint, First Input Delay, and Cumulative Layout Shift
Then I dig into the Opportunities section. This is where PageSpeed gives you specific advice like:
- Compress images
- Eliminate render-blocking resources
- Reduce JavaScript execution time
- Use proper caching headers
I explain what each one means in plain English and how to fix the most common issues using plugins like WP Rocket, ShortPixel, or a CDN like Cloudflare.
I also touch on how performance varies by device. A site might look fast on your desktop but get crushed in the mobile score — especially if you’re using large media or custom fonts. That’s why PageSpeed Insights tests both versions.
Another helpful section is Diagnostics, which shows deeper technical suggestions. You don’t need to fix everything here, but I point out which ones move the needle most.
Finally, I show how to interpret the Passed Audits section — so you know what’s already working well.
I recommend running PageSpeed tests regularly, especially after major site updates, theme changes, or plugin installs. Even small optimizations here can lead to better rankings, lower bounce rates, and higher conversion.
Do you check your site speed monthly, or only when something breaks?
