Sometimes, you might want to share something in a Facebook group without attaching your name to it. Whether it’s a sensitive question, a personal experience, or just something you’d rather keep private, anonymous posting is the perfect solution. In my latest tutorial, I show exactly how to post anonymously inside Facebook groups using the built-in feature.

Not every group allows anonymous posts, but for those that do, the setup is simple. Facebook added this feature to give users more comfort and privacy when engaging in discussions — especially in communities focused on health, parenting, or support topics.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Go to Your Facebook Group
Open the group where you want to post. You’ll see the usual “Write something…” box at the top.

2. Check if Anonymous Posting Is Enabled
If the feature is available, you’ll see a small “Post anonymously” toggle at the top of the post composer. If it’s missing, the group admin hasn’t enabled it yet.

3. Turn On the Option
Toggle the switch to Post anonymously. Facebook will show a short message explaining how it works.

4. Write Your Post
Type your message as usual — add text, images, or links. Once published, your post will appear with the label “Anonymous member.”

5. Wait for Admin Approval (If Required)
Many groups moderate anonymous posts manually. Once approved, it’ll appear publicly without revealing your name or profile picture.

Important Details:

  • Only admins and moderators can see who wrote the post.

  • You’ll still receive notifications if someone comments, but your identity remains hidden from members.

  • You can edit or delete your post anytime.

Pro Tip:
If you’re running your own group, you can enable anonymous posting by going to Group Settings → Manage Discussion → Anonymous Posting → On.

Anonymous posting is ideal for creating open, judgment-free conversations. It helps members share more honestly and connect on topics they might otherwise avoid.

I’ve seen this feature help groups thrive by encouraging authentic discussions. If you value privacy but still want to participate, anonymous posting is a brilliant Facebook tool worth using.
