Selling items online has never been easier, and Facebook Marketplace is one of the best platforms for reaching local buyers fast. Whether you’re clearing out your house or starting a small reselling side hustle, listing items only takes a few minutes. In my new tutorial, I show exactly how to create and publish a Marketplace listing step by step.

Marketplace is built directly into Facebook, which means your listings can reach both your local area and groups you already belong to.

Here’s how to list your item:

  1. Open Facebook Marketplace: Click the Marketplace icon (shopfront symbol) on the Facebook homepage or app.

  2. Click “Create New Listing.”

  3. Choose Listing Type: Select Item for Sale (or Vehicle, Property, or Job if relevant).

  4. Add Photos: Upload clear, well-lit images of your product from multiple angles.

  5. Write a Title and Description: Be honest and specific. Include condition, brand, size, and any key details.

  6. Set Your Price: Check similar listings to choose a competitive rate.

  7. Select a Category and Location: This helps Facebook show your listing to the right buyers nearby.

  8. Publish: Click Next and then Publish to make your listing live instantly.

Your item will now appear in Marketplace and can be boosted to reach more people if you choose.

Tips for Better Sales:

  • Respond quickly to messages — fast replies get prioritized in search results.

  • Update or bump listings that haven’t sold after a few days.

  • Meet buyers in safe, public locations or use Facebook’s shipping option for extra security.

I’ve sold dozens of items this way, from camera gear to office equipment, and the process is always quick and intuitive.

If you’re new to selling online, Marketplace is a great place to start. It combines simplicity, trust, and massive reach — letting you turn unused items into extra cash almost instantly.
