I filmed this tutorial to show exactly how to delete your own YouTube comments — whether it’s something outdated, a typo, or a comment you regret. You can watch it here:
We’ve all been there. You leave a comment on a video, then later change your mind or spot a mistake. Fortunately, removing your own comment is easy — and YouTube makes it seamless across both desktop and mobile.
In the video, I walk through two methods: one where you find your comment via notifications or your history, and the other where you navigate directly to the video.
Once you’re on the comment, just click the three-dot menu next to it. You’ll see the option to Edit or Delete. Select delete, confirm, and it’s gone for good.
On mobile, the process is nearly identical — go to the video, scroll to your comment, tap the menu, and hit delete.
The video also touches on how YouTube comments are not private — even if you delete one, someone may have already seen it or screenshotted it. That’s why it’s good practice to double-check before posting.
If you run a channel, I also show how to delete comments on your own videos, including moderating your comment section for spam, offensive language, or off-topic chatter.
I’ve had to remove plenty of my own comments — whether it was replying too quickly, correcting something, or just realizing it wasn’t adding value. It’s a small but useful habit to keep your YouTube presence intentional.
Do you ever go back and clean up your YouTube comment history?
