I created this video to walk through the process of creating a new page in WordPress, from writing and formatting content to setting the URL and SEO settings.
Pages are the backbone of any WordPress site — from About and Contact to Sales Pages, Legal Pages, and Custom Landing Pages. If you’re new to WordPress, creating one the right way can feel a bit confusing, so here’s the full breakdown.
Step 1: Go to Pages > Add New
Log in to your WordPress admin area, hover over Pages, and select Add New.
You’ll be taken to the block editor (or classic editor if you’ve switched). This is where you’ll:
-
Enter your page title
-
Start adding content blocks
-
Set your permalink (URL)
Step 2: Write and format your content
Add content using the visual editor. Common blocks include:
-
Paragraphs
-
Headings (H2, H3, etc.)
-
Images or video embeds
-
Buttons or CTAs
-
Columns for layouts
In the video, I show how I structure a typical blog-style page with an intro, main sections, images, and a final call to action.
Step 3: Configure page settings
On the right-hand sidebar, you’ll see:
-
Featured image
-
Page attributes (for parent pages or templates)
-
Discussion (turn off comments for static pages)
Make sure your slug is short and SEO-friendly. For example, use /contact
instead of /contact-us-today-here
.
Step 4: Publish the page
When you’re ready, click Publish. You can also:
-
Schedule it for later
-
Save as a draft
-
Preview on desktop and mobile
Bonus tip: If you’re using RankMath or Yoast, this is where you can add meta titles, descriptions, and social sharing previews.
Are you using Pages to their full potential — or just defaulting to Posts for everything?
