If you’re analyzing a business or researching stocks, few documents are more useful than a 10-Q report. It’s one of the best ways to understand a company’s performance between annual reports. In my new tutorial, I show how to quickly find any company’s 10-Q report online — no finance background required.

A 10-Q is a quarterly filing required by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). It contains detailed financial statements, management updates, and risk disclosures. Investors, journalists, and business owners use it to track how companies are performing in real time.

Here’s the quickest way to locate it:

1. Visit the SEC’s EDGAR Database
Go to sec.gov/edgar. This is the official archive for all filings from public U.S. companies.

2. Use the Search Bar
Type the company’s name or stock ticker symbol. For example: Apple or AAPL.

3. Filter for Form 10-Q
Scroll through the list of filings and look for those labeled 10-Q. The most recent one will usually appear near the top.

4. Open the Filing
Click the Documents button beside the listing. Choose the main HTML or PDF file to view or download the full report.

5. Check the Key Sections

  • Management’s Discussion & Analysis (MD&A): Gives insight into performance and strategy.

  • Financial Statements: Shows revenue, profits, and cash flow.

  • Risk Factors: Lists potential challenges or uncertainties.

If the company is based outside the U.S., check its investor relations website for quarterly filings or regional equivalents like SEDAR+ in Canada or Companies House in the UK.

Pro Tip:
You can Google directly with a command like:
site:sec.gov 10-Q [Company Name]
This often pulls up the exact report instantly.

Understanding how to locate a 10-Q gives you access to insider-level data — without needing expensive subscriptions or tools. It’s one of the fastest ways to stay informed and make smarter business or investment decisions.
